NetBSD, apache and php-gettext

After spen­ding enti­re­ly too many hours debug­ging the thing, I just found out that just set­ting the lan­guage domain with setlocale is not enough. At least with apache‑1.3, you also have to set the envi­ron­ment varia­ble „LANG“ with putenv. Now, the loca­li­zed appli­ca­ti­ons show their beau­ty in all languages.
